FCF Scout/Asst. Scout Testing at Winter Camp (Nov 8-10)

Shawnee Trail:
As we all have discussed during the year, the time is now here to get ready for scout testing - to be completed during Winter Camp. We need a chapter scout and an assistant, so please work with your young bucks to get them ready.

Remember that every time one of us volunteers to progress in FCF - when we say yes to God - we agree to give God time to work on us spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally. I encourage all of us to continue to give God permission to work in our lives. Challenge your boys and yourselves as you ready them for scout testing.
Details will follow re: when and where testing will be done during the camp. Download Scout Application and get it submitted today.

Please do not hesitate to call me with questions or concerns.

Until then, I pray for God to bless you and your families as we surrender our lives to Him.

In Christ’s love,
Frank “Jawbone” Super

Scout Testing - More information coming soon but this will be held at Winter Camp.

Pow Wow 2024 Adventure Results

On April 26/27, during Pow Wow, the Shawnee Trail conducted a Frontier Adventure at Lakeview Camp. Six new members successfully completed the challenge set before them and made it through the suffering of “lean times”. All the candidates travelled back through time to pioneer days and finally earned enough pay to secure their entrance into the Shawnee Trail Fur Company. The new members are the following: Young Bucks: Jon Alvera, Michael Schmude, Gabriel Schmude, Noah Afuhaamango, Ryan Snow and Old Timer Pastor Brian Williams.

Please offer a salute of congratulations to these six brave souls who voluntarily stepped forward to be a “Torch Bearer” for Christ by joining the Shawnee Trail Chapter of Frontiersman Camping Fellowship (FCF).

If anyone reading this is interested in taking the necessary steps to join FCF, check out the requirements listed below. I guarantee you that you will grow closer to God and enjoy the experience when you volunteer to join the Shawnee Trail.

Calling All Young Bucks

Get your skills sharpened and become the next Shawnee Trail Chapter Scout. Scout testing will be conducted at Winter Camp this November. Find the application in the FCF section of this website, fill it out, and then submit it to Jawbone by October 31. All of the testing criteria are located in the Scout Workbook, also contained in the FCF section of this website.

The Shawnee Trail Chapter Scout and the Assistant Scout are part of the Chapter staff. The primary role of the Chapter Scout is to be a liaison between the chapter Old Timers and the Young Bucks. I encourage all young bucks who are interested in serving others through Christian ministry to make application for this important position. I guarantee to every Young Buck who applies and then goes through testing a challenging and rewarding experience!!

I applaud all who apply.

In Christ’s love and service,  Jawbone

Recent Event Highlights

The 2024 Shawnee Trail Brush Poppin’ Trace Camp took place February 23-25 out at the old campground in Lakeview. Many Old Timers and Young Bucks gathered from around the territory to enjoy fellowship, competition and to grow closer to their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The theme of this year’s camp was “Walk on the water”, based on Matthew 14:22-34.

Pastor Mike “Running Turtle” Eddy delivered messages from God’s word during powerful evening services around the blazing fire. Brother Ken “Coal” Harris played his banjo and led everyone in old time music that touched all. Altar times were powerful - all were filled with the Holy Spirit.

As usual, competition in black powder shooting, knife and hawk throwing, archery and flint and steel fire making took place. The Young Buck and Old Timer winners were the following:

  1. Black Powder Shooting
    YB - Anthony "Buck" Gell
    OT - Kevin "Firedog" Gell

  2. Tomahawk

OT - Rodney "Bow Breaker" Briggs

  3. Knife

Why Join the Shawnee Trail FCF Chapter?

Frontiersmen Camping Fellowship (FCF) is a service oriented group within the Royal Rangers ministry. The FCF motto is, “To give and to serve.” In order to highlight the FCF ministry, members dress and camp in pre-1840s attire and use pre-1840s equipment. Some of the FCF activities include tomahawk and knife throwing, black powder rifle shooting and starting fires with flint and steel. However, the primary purpose of FCF is to promote the Royal Rangers program in general and to support the local outposts and district.

There are so many benefits to each person who joins the FCF ministry. We all need a challenge to grow our relationship with Jesus Christ. Engaging in service through FCF is a phenomenal opportunity to cause Christian growth for both leaders and young men.

If you are a leader in a local outpost and feel like you are being called into the FCF, then check out the eligibility requirements (see below), complete the requirements, and then put in your application to join during the next Frontier Adventure.

If you have young men who need that extra challenge of the FCF ministry, then get them ready to join by helping them to complete the eligibility requirements and then submit their applications to join during the next Frontier Adventure.

For those who feel the call to join and then answer the call by completing the Frontier Adventure, they will be changed forever in their walk with Jesus Christ. There is so much to enjoy as all of us within FCF work together to enhance the Royal Rangers ministry.

Accept the challenge and get started now.

One of the best ways to keep up with the Shawnee Trail is the FCF Facebook Page. This allows the staff to post information and answer questions for North Texas leader and boys.
