When should I charter my outpost ?

  • The national charter period is from August 15 to October 31 each year. Chartering is an annual process, and your charter expires at the end of August each year. That means that your benefits of chartering, especially your 15% discount on all Royal Rangers merchandise from GPH, expires on August 31. If you happen to miss the October 31 deadline, that’s OK. You can still charter, but you may have missed some of the benefits of chartering.

How can I get a Gold Eagle or Ranger Kids Gold Track medal for a boy in my outpost?

  • Since the Gold Eagle medal was started several years ago leaders have been able to go to the GPH website and order the medal whenever a boy had completed all of the requirements. Since March 2010 if you go to the GPH website you find that you can’t order them anymore. They haven’t disappeared. There is now an application that you need to complete and send into the national Royal Rangers office. Once the application is processed you will receive the Gold Eagle and a certificate for the boy from the national office. Check our forms page for a link to this application.

I have a boy who has completed his work for the Gold Medal of Achievement. What do I need to do?

  • The Gold Medal of Achievement requires some extra processing beyond what is done for the other medals for boys. The application for the GMA (available from our Forms page) needs to be sent to the district director for processing (e-mail address on our Staff page). He will contact you to arrange an interview with the GMA candidate, and after the interview the application will be forwarded to the national Royal Rangers office for processing.

How have the local leadership insignia changed?

  • Previously referred to as commanders bars or rank insignia (for leaders and boys), local office insignia have been migrated from the collar to the left sleeve and from metallic pins to embroidered patches. These patches include Velcro® backing and footprint, allowing for periodic change (when, for instance, a boy moves from being an assistant patrol leader to a patrol leader). The change from pin to patch reduces costs and makes the utility uniform more functional for Rangers activities.

Have the district strip and outpost numerals been redesigned?

  • Yes. The geographic patch, previously known as the district strip, and the outpost numerals have both been reshaped and resized. The geographic patch has been redesigned with a flat edge along the bottom making it easy to align the outpost numerals. Both the geographic patches and numerals have been reduced in size for use on boys’ and adult’s uniforms allowing space below the outpost numerals for boys’ advancement patches and leaders’ training level patches above the roll-up sleeve tab and button on the utility uniform.
