Black Powder Shooter’s Course 1/31 - 2/1
If anyone wants to earn the NRA certified Black Powder Shooter’s card, there is still time to register for the course of instruction. The course will take place at the Commander’s Lodge at the NTXRR Camp in Maypearl starting Friday night, January 31 at 5pm, and will conclude Saturday night, February 1, at approximately 5pm. The cost of the camp is $50, and that includes dinner Friday night, and breakfast and lunch on Saturday. The course instructor is our very own FCF President Emeritus Art “Flintlock” Sullivan. Come to enjoy fellowship and to learn black powder shooting from one of the very best.
FCF Scouts / Asst Scouts.
After five years of dedicated, motivated and faithful service to the Shawnee Trail Chapter of FCF, Anthony “Buck” Gell turned 18 and was finally forced to release his grip on the Scout position. Consequently, the chapter needed a new Scout and some Assistant Scouts so the call for a new Scout was raised and a date set for testing was scheduled.
On Saturday, November 9, 2024, during the North Texas Winter Camp, the Shawnee Trail conducted Scout Testing. Four courageous young men stepped up to be tested: Noah Afuhaamango and Ryan Snow from Outpost 28 in North Richland Hills and Nick Crafton and Victor Senchenkov from Outpost 337 in Arp.
The applicants were tested on hawk and knife throwing, flint and steel fire making, black powder shooting or archery and their pioneer outfits were judged for authenticity and quality of construction. The applicants were also graded on the number of volunteer hours served, their Royal Rangers Advancement level and on their FCF advancement level.
So into the testing the four Young Bucks bravely walked. After it was over and the dust settled, less than two points separated them. Nick Crafton came out on top and took the position as the Shawnee Trail Scout. Noah Afuhaamango and Victor Senchenkov were named as Assistant Scouts.
Please congratulate Nick on his achievement. Let’s all pray that Nick will represent the Shawnee Trail well in every endeavor and challenge still to come. Also, congratulate the Assistant Scouts and Ryan Snow for stepping forward into the scout testing process.
FCF Family Camp Summary
FCF FAMILY DAYS CAMP - October 18-20, 2024
Another exciting chapter in Shawnee Trail FCF saga has done come and gone. There we all were, back in the 1830s Texas frontier, living out in the wilderness of the dry, hot, southern plains. Fortunately someone found a reliable water source and a few buffalo were taken to feed the camp.
The 2024 Family Days Camp took place at the Royal Rangers Camp October 18-20, 2024. 50 brave souls were in attendance. Pastor Brian Williams from the mighty Outpost 337 from Arp, Texas delivered messages on this year’s theme: “Say to this Mountain- Move!” I do believe the power of the Holy Ghost gave all in attendance the faith to move mountains within and without. Brother Ken “Coal” Harris and his grandchildren provided worship in music and song.
Friday night saw the whole group enjoying worship, a message, and a silent auction. The tables under the pavilion could barely contain all of the auction items. When all of the sales were totaled up it was determined that the auction brought in approximately $1,000. This money will help run electricity and plumbing to the Shawnee Trail blacksmith shop.
Sister Renee led the ladies in the traditional Saturday morning, “Ladies Tea”, where all the pioneer women enjoyed tea, fellowship and lessons on frontier living.
Competitions on Saturday afternoon were fiercely contested. Shots rang out through the long, hot day, and tomahawks were seen flying all about. Some wild beasts were skewered with precision arrow shots. In the end, four teams were determined to be the champions in each of the four events:
- Knife throwing - Team “Bullseyes” - Jace, Ryan, Matt and Brother Bowbreaker.
- Hawk throwing - Team “Avenging Ninjas” - Savannah, Jaiden, Victoria and Ginny
- Archery - Team “Coyote” - Shawn, Noah, William and Brother Jawbone
- Black Powder Shoot: Team “Arp 337” - Pastor Brian, Jason, Subreena and
Brother Pine Knot.
Somehow, through God’s grace and mercy not much blood was shed during the
fun and exciting competitions.
Sunday morning the camp was concluded with a communion service where all
attendees reflected on their lives and remembered the tremendous sacrifice
of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Many were filled with a fresh anointing of the
Holy Ghost. Sunday was wonderful.
Alas, all camps must end, so all departed Sunday afternoon with a mix of
sadness at having to depart, but also gladness to return to their modern
homes with their comfortable couches and beds.
Until we all meet again, I pray for God to bless all of you and your
families. I’m the name of Jesus Christ, and I’m His service, so long.

Pow Wow FCF Adventure
Pow Wow 2024 Adventure Results
On April 26/27, during Pow Wow, the Shawnee Trail
conducted a Frontier Adventure at Lakeview Camp. Six new members
successfully completed the challenge set before them and made it through the
suffering of “lean times”. All the candidates travelled back through time to
pioneer days and finally earned enough pay to secure their entrance into the
Shawnee Trail Fur Company. The new members are the following: Young Bucks:
Jon Alvera, Michael Schmude, Gabriel Schmude, Noah Afuhaamango, Ryan Snow
and Old Timer Pastor Brian Williams.
Please offer a salute of congratulations to these
six brave souls who voluntarily stepped forward to be a “Torch Bearer” for
Christ by joining the Shawnee Trail Chapter of Frontiersman Camping
Fellowship (FCF).
If anyone reading this is interested in taking
the necessary steps to join FCF, check out the requirements listed below. I
guarantee you that you will grow closer to God and enjoy the experience when
you volunteer to join the Shawnee Trail.
Why Join the Shawnee Trail FCF Chapter?
Frontiersmen Camping Fellowship (FCF) is a service oriented group within the Royal Rangers ministry. The FCF motto is, “To give and to serve.” In order to highlight the FCF ministry, members dress and camp in pre-1840s attire and use pre-1840s equipment. Some of the FCF activities include tomahawk and knife throwing, black powder rifle shooting and starting fires with flint and steel. However, the primary purpose of FCF is to promote the Royal Rangers program in general and to support the local outposts and district.
There are so many benefits to each person who joins the FCF ministry. We all need a challenge to grow our relationship with Jesus Christ. Engaging in service through FCF is a phenomenal opportunity to cause Christian growth for both leaders and young men.
If you are a leader in a local outpost and feel like you are being called into the FCF, then check out the eligibility requirements (see below), complete the requirements, and then put in your application to join during the next Frontier Adventure.
If you have young men who need that extra challenge of the FCF ministry, then get them ready to join by helping them to complete the eligibility requirements and then submit their applications to join during the next Frontier Adventure.
For those who feel the call to join and then answer the call by completing the Frontier Adventure, they will be changed forever in their walk with Jesus Christ. There is so much to enjoy as all of us within FCF work together to enhance the Royal Rangers ministry.
Accept the challenge and get started now.
One of the best ways to keep up with the Shawnee Trail is the
FCF Facebook
